Whether you build a storage building yourself or have an expert contractor build one for you, there are several things to consider to make sure you select the appropriate storage building. 

The first consideration is size.  Make sure your storage building is not only big enough to house your largest piece of equipment, but make sure the door is wide enough, too.  Most storage buildings that are at least 8'x10" come with double doors which is ideal.  Additionally, buying a storage building with a loft greatly increases storage space and allows you to store rarely used items overhead.

A second consideration is accessibility. Besides having a wide enough door on your storage building, adding a pressure treated ramp will ensure that you can get heavy equipment in and out easily.  Also, make sure there is enough light in your storage building.  You can add a light or window if enough light does not come through the door.  Some storage buildings come with skylights.

Another consideration is how your storage building looks. Does it match your home or does it look like an eyesore? Is it made of a material that will look ugly in just a few years?
